REGULATIONS FOR THE BEST PAPER AWARD AND COMMITTEE CRITERIA

In addition to the general instructions for submitting papers, the author must comply with the following instructions:

Format for each submission:

a) Paper: double-spaced, standard (8 1⁄2” x 11”)

b) Number of copies: four (4)

c) Length: 4,500 word limit

d) Language: Any of the official languages of the IABA: English, Spanish, Portuguese, or French.

Preliminary Requirements:

A) The author must submit a statement indicating that he or she wishes his/her paper to be considered for the Best Paper Award

B) The author must have been a member of the IABA for at least 30 days prior to the beginning of the Conference.

Failure to meet the above preliminary requirements will disqualify the candidate from consideration for the award.

Due: The paper must be received no later than: April 20, 2012

Award Committee Criteria:

Once the author has established that they have met the preliminary requirements listed above, the Selection Committee will evaluate papers based on the following criteria:

1. Formal presentation, clarity           10 points

2. Originality of the topic                  30 points

3. Coverage and depth                     40 points

4. Literary style                               20 points

Total                                            100 points

During the Conference, the Committee reserves the right to delay its decision for 30, 60, or 90 days. In the case of a tie in points, a second selection round will be held. If that round also ends in a tie, the Committee will select the winner by lot.
