Muy estimados y distinguidos miembros del Consejo
y todos los miembros FIA:
Por medio de estas líneas, me permito hacerles la invitación formal para que participen en la Reunión del Consejo y Seminario Internacional “Constitución y Democracia en los Tiempos del COVID-19: Mirada al Futuro y Tutela Efectiva de Derechos” a realizarse en línea vía zoom los días 17 al 19 de febrero del 2021. Es sumamente importante su participación, en virtud de que se tomarán decisiones favorables para nuestra institución. Así mismo, el ciclo de conferencias se desarrollara en 8 paneles y contará con conferenciantes destacados en las diferentes disciplinas que se van a llevar a cabo.
En tres meses y medio que nos ha tocado manejar los destinos de la FIA, hemos tenido un arduo trabajo en los que han participado en forma directa nuestro Vicepresidente Judd Kessler y nuestra Secretaria General Lourdes Venes. Nos hemos propuesto hacer de nuestro organismo una nueva FIA y con la ayuda de todos ustedes seguramente lo vamos a lograr.

I hereby would like to invite you to participate in the IABA Mid-Year Council Meeting & International Seminar “Constitution and Democracy in Times of COVID-19: A Way Forward and Effective Protection of Rights”, to be held virtually from February 17 thru 19, 2021. Your participation is extremely important since we will adopt agreements for the benefit of our institution. Likewise, the International Seminar will offer 8 panels featuring prominent speakers in the different disciplines that will be presented.
During the three and a half months of this presidency, we have been working hard with the direct participation of our Vice President, Judd Kessler, and our Secretary General, Lourdes Venes. We have undertaken the task to make our association a new IABA and we are confident that with the help of all of you we will succeed.

Es un placer invitarlos a la Reunión de Consejo y Seminario Internacional de la Federación Interamericana de Abogados sobre “Constitución y Democracia en los Tiempos del COVID-19: Mirada al Futuro y Tutela Efectiva de Derechos,” que se llevará a cabo virtualmente del 17 al 19 de febrero de 2021. Estos siguen siendo tiempos extraordinarios en medio de la pandemia que está demorando en desaparecer, así como las crisis políticas en las Américas que hace demanda un gran compromiso de los profesionales del derecho para servir la causa de la justicia y para la protección de la democracia y el Estado de derecho.
La FIA todavía está afrontando el impacto de la pandemia del COVID-19 y retos institucionales, pero sigue trabajando incesantemente en equipo y se complace en lanzar su Reunión de Consejo y Seminario Internacional virtual. El evento nos permitirá evaluar y mejorar nuestro gobierno institucional. El evento académico será un foro para reflexionar con panelistas de calidad sobre el impacto de la pandemia y las crisis políticas que hemos experimentado en los pilares constitucionales, en las instituciones democráticas, en la tutela efectiva de derechos, y para dar una mirada al futuro. El mismo ofrecerá oportunidades para aprender, conectarnos y servir.
En esta labor agradecemos el apoyo y liderazgo del Presidente, Roberto Flores de la Rosa, y el Primer Vicepresidente, Judd Kessler, así como la colaboración del Comité Ejecutivo, nuestros panelistas y todo el equipo de trabajo que contribuyo a la organización del evento.

It is my pleasure to invite you to join the Inter-American Bar Association Mid-Year Council Meeting and International Seminar on “Constitution and Democracy in the Times of COVID-19: A Way Forward and Effective Protection of Rights,” to be held virtually from February 17th to 19th 2021. We are still living extraordinary times amidst a pandemic that is taking long to subside, as well as serious political challenges in the Americas that call for a stronger commitment from our profession to serve the cause of justice and take a stand for democracy and the rule of law.
The IABA is still facing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and other institutional challenges, but it is still working tirelessly and is pleased to launch its virtual Mid-Year Council Meeting and International Seminar. The event will give us an opportunity to review and improve our institutional governance, and the academic program will be a forum to reflect on the impact of the pandemic and the political crises that we have experienced on the constitutional pillars, the democratic institutions, the effective protection of rights, and reflect about the way forward. It will offer opportunities to learn, connect, and serve.
In this endeavor we thank the support and leadership of President, Roberto Flores de la Rosa, and First Vice President, Judd Kessler, as well as the collaboration of the Executive Committee, our panelists and all our working team that supported the organization of the event.
