Mr. Supervielle is a founding co-owner of Veritas Assurance Partners LLC (“VAP”), an international investigative and consulting firm based in Miami, Florida. He is the product leader for “Government Strategic Services”. He provides business advisory services to governments and multi-national enterprises operating around the world, especially in Latin American and countries experiencing social instability and armed conflict. He has extensive experience with U.S. federal government regulatory and geopolitical security matters. Specifically, Mr. Supervielle has expertise in litigation and complex foreign investigations involving ethics and fraud allegations; international law and negotiations; and strategic planning, which encompasses decision analysis and resolution, change management, facilitation, risk mitigation and project management. Mr. Supervielle has represented the US government in over 40 nations around the globe. Cuban born, he is fluent in Spanish.

 

Positions

 

Founding co-owner, Veritas Assurance Partners 2010 - Present

  • Effectively provided sophisticated and sensitive investigative, political and policy support to over two dozen prestigious law firms in the US, Latin America and the Middle East on multi-million dollar cases.
  • Partners with prestigious Cuban law firms to advise US and foreign clients on the realities, requirements, risks and rewards of business opportunities in Cuba.
  • Regularly hired by 8 larger investigative firms to complete missions in locations where the larger firms do not have the required in-country resources.
  • Successfully resolved sensitive legal and political problem for over two dozen major US defense contractors in locations such as Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Iraq, Kuwait, Korea and Dubai.
  • Directly supported over three dozen US and foreign corporations across a wide range of political, commercial, criminal and legal issues.

 

Director, Navigant Consulting 2008 - 2010

  • Successfully directed complex investigations for clients that included a national government, Peruvian mining company, international bank, the U.S. Embassy in Colombia, a large Canadian construction company and others.
  • Provided business risk assessment and advice to large defense contractors concerning issues arising from Afghanistan, Iraq, and Korea.

General CounselU.S. Forces in Afghanistan 2005 - 2006          

  • General Counsel for 30,000 coalition forces in Afghanistan. Led over 60 attorneys and paralegals.
  • Personally briefed Afghan President; Ministers of Defense, Justice and Interior; the Attorney General; and the Speaker of the Parliament concerning legal and policy matters, securing important new laws, decrees, regulations and policies.
  • Successfully mediated complex controversies among cabinet-level Afghan officials regarding highly sensitive and politically volatile controversies, such as detention operations and collateral deaths and damage from combat.
  • Directly advised U.S. Ambassador and other U.S. officials concerning sensitive matters of classified intelligence.
  • Ensured that billions of dollars worth of stability operations and developmental assistance programs and contracts were initiated, properly accounted for and executed consistent with U.S., Afghan and international law.

 

Executive Officer and Special Counsel to the Army General Counsel 2004 - 2005               

  • Served as a senior military advisor to politically appointed Army General Counsel and managed operations for 30      lawyers and 20 support personnel at highest level of the Department of the U.S. Army.

 

General Counsel – U.S. Southern Command 2000 - 2003                      

  • Served as General Counsel responsible for managing U.S. military matters related to ethics and fraud investigations, criminal prosecutions, international negotiations, security assistance, civil-military relations, rule of law, and developmental aid activities throughout Latin America and the Caribbean; guided over 30 attorneys.
  • Ensured lawful, practical and effective initiation and implementation of the U.S. government’s cornerstone counter-drug program for Latin America.

 

Professional Experience

 

International Agreement Negotiations: Personally represented the U.S. Government during official negotiations with 13 nations in Latin America and 8 nations in Asia, Africa and South Pacific concerning wide range of topics and issues.

 

Strategic International Planning & Operations: Mr. Supervielle advised and persuaded the most senior level of executive, legislative, judicial and military authorities of over two dozen nations to adopt new programs that improved the effectiveness, accountability and transparency of judicial institutions. He developed, planned and executed multiple million dollar U.S. Government rule of law programs in foreign countries.

 

US Government Inter-agency Expertise: Mr. Supervielle applied his knowledge of U.S. legal, policy and political process with senior executive level officials from the Department of Defense, Department of State, U.S. AID, Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security. For example, he drafted and successfully fought for new legislation on Capitol Hill to permit use of Plan Colombia’s $1.3B counter-drug money for counter terrorism programs following 9/11 attacks.

 

Criminal Law and Investigations Experience: Served for five years as a highly effective criminal litigator involving over 150 trials. He supervised hundreds of high-level, sensitive internal criminal, fraud and ethics investigations.
