PRONUNCIAMIENTO DE LA Federación INTERAMERICANA DE ABOGADOS
SOBRE EL ATAQUE A LA REPÚBLICA DEMOCRÁTICA DE UCRANIA
EN VIOLACIóN DE SU SOBERANÍA Y DEL DERECHO INTERNACIONAL.
La Federación Interamericana de Abogados – FIA tiene como misión promover el Estado de derecho y el respeto a los derechos humanos bajo los principios democráticos en que se fundan nuestros pueblos. Como gremio que reúne a los abogados del hemisferio occidental, de España, Inglaterra y Francia, con más de ochenta años de existencia en la vida político-jurídica de las Américas, es un referente para los Estados como sujetos del derecho internacional.
En línea con su misión institucional, la FIA tiene el compromiso de promover el respeto al orden internacional, al derecho de los pueblos a su libre determinación y a vivir de manera pacífica. El orden internacional se basa en los pilares de respeto inquebrantable a la soberanía de los Estados y a las normas y compromisos internacionales. De ello depende la paz mundial.
La FIA expresa su total consternación y rechazo por la injustificada invasión de Rusia a Ucrania, la que viola las normas de derecho internacional y el deber de respetar la soberanía de los Estados. Compartiendo el sentimiento de otras organizaciones internacionales, particularmente, a las que representan a la profesión jurídica, denunciamos enfáticamente el ataque ilegítimo al pueblo de Ucrania y la violación de la soberanía de su Nación, e invoca el cese de las hostilidades para evitar mayor sufrimiento y pérdida de vidas humanas de los pueblos de Ucrania y Rusia.
En estos tiempos difíciles, la FIA expresa su total solidaridad con el pueblo ucraniano, pueblo que ama y ha apostado por su libertad; asimismo, destaca su fortitud y heroísmo en la defensa de su libertad, integridad territorial y de su proyecto democrático.
La FIA urge a todas las naciones y democracias del mundo a unirse y tomar una acción concertada en respaldo al pueblo de Ucrania y en rechazo absoluto a esta agresión injustificada por parte del gobierno ruso contra un gobierno soberano y un pueblo pacífico como el de Ucrania. Asimismo, urge a que todas las naciones unidas demanden al Estado Ruso el cumplimiento de las normas internacionales, el cese de hostilidades y que se promueva el restablecimiento de la paz. El gran pueblo de Rusia ha sufrido profundamente bajo gobiernos tiránicos a través de su historia. Éste merece una mejor representación y confiamos que no quiere ser parte de este ataque tan cruel.

DECLARATION OF THE INTER-AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION
CONCERNING THE ATTACK ON THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF UKRAINE
IN VIOLATION OF ITS SOVEREIGNTY AND INTERNATIONAL LAW.
The Inter-American Bar Association – IABA – has as its purpose the promotion of the Rule of Law and respect for human rights pursuant to the democratic principles upon which our nations were founded. As an association of the lawyers of the Western Hemisphere, of Spain, the United Kingdom, and France, having an organizational history of over eighty years in the political/juridical life of the Americas, the IABA is an authoritative point of reference for the States as subject of international law.
In accordance with its institutional mission, the IABA is committed to promote respect for the international order, the right of people and nations to their self-determination, and to live in peace. The international order is based on the pillars of unwavering respect to the sovereignty of States and international norms and agreements. World peace depends on this.
The IABA expresses its total consternation about and rejection of the unjustified Russian invasion of Ukraine, in violation of international norms and the duty to respect the sovereignty of States. In full agreement with the stance of other international organizations, especially those representing the international legal profession, we denounce emphatically the illegitimate attack to the Ukrainian people and the violation of the sovereignty of their Nation and urge the end of hostilities for the good of both nations and to avoid more suffering and loss of human lives from both the Ukrainian and Russian people.
In these trying times, the IABA expresses its complete solidarity with the freedom-loving people of Ukraine and honors their fortitude and heroism in their defense of their freedom, territorial integrity, sovereignty, and their democratic project.
The IABA urges all the democratic nations of the world to stand united and to take concerted action to support the people of Ukraine and to absolutely reject this unjustified aggression from the Russian government against the democratic sovereign government of Ukraine and its peaceable people. We also urge all nations to jointly demand that the Russian State comply with international law, cease hostilities, and take necessary steps to reestablish the peace. The great Russian people have suffered greatly from tyrannical governments in their history. They deserve better representation, and we trust that they want no part in this cruel attack.
