Estimados amigos de la Federación Interamericana de Abogados (FIA)
Con mucha alegría los y las invito a participar del próximo Seminario y reunión de Consejo, que realizaremos, de manera virtual, los días 15 y 16 de febrero del año entrante.
Digo con mucha alegría, porque aún permanece en nosotros la satisfacción por el reencuentro que vivimos en Rio de Janeiro hace apenas un par de semanas. La 59 Conferencia fue todo un éxito, y la vuelta a la presencialidad su punto principal. Porque más allá de las excelentes exposiciones académicas, seguidas todas ellas por una nutrida concurrencia, y de las reuniones institucionales que nos permitieron compartir y tomar importantes decisiones, lo más significativo fue volver a estar juntos y recrear la red de amistad y calidez, que es el basamento central para que la FIA pueda alcanzar sus objetivos. Hemos vencido el desafío de superar las limitaciones que nos impuso la pandemia sufrida, y volvimos a ser la FIA de los mejores tiempos.
Dada la proximidad de la fecha convenida haremos el Seminario y Consejo de manera virtual, pero en julio realizaremos la 60 Conferencia nuevamente en forma presencial para seguir de ese modo en lo sucesivo, ya que estará recuperada la secuencia habitual.
Los invito, entonces, a seguir participando. En el Seminario contaremos con destacados panelistas que abordarán la íntima relación entre los derechos humanos, la justicia y la democracia, en un mundo tecno-globalizado. Esta cuestión atraviesa horizontalmente al mundo de hoy, donde se ponen en cuestión, muchas veces, los valores que desde siempre fueron el basamento de la democracia.
Y en el Consejo seguiremos debatiendo y consensuando decisiones importantes para el mejoramiento de nuestra vida institucional.
Por eso es necesaria la presencia de todos y todas. Hemos relanzado a la FIA. Sigamos apoyando el proceso con nuestra concurrencia. Los espero.

Dear friends of the Inter-American Bar Association (IABA)
With great joy I would like to invite you to participate in the next Seminar and Council Meeting which will be hold virtually on February 15 and 16 of 2024.
I say with great joy because the satisfaction of our last meeting in Rio de Janeiro, on November and December of 2023, is still with us. The 59th Conference was a total success and our return to the presencial format was the most important hapennig. Futhermore of the excelent academic expositions which had a great attendance and the institutional meetings that allowed us to take important decisions, the most significant fact was to be together again and recreate the warmth and friendship bonds that we have, which is the very base to reach the IABA’s organizational objectives. We had defeated the big challenges that brought us the pandemic, nowadays we are again the IABA that was before.
We will hold the Seminar and Council Meetings virtually on February 15 and 16, but in July we will have the 60th Conference in a presencial format and we will continue in the future in the same way because we will have from there an usual sequence. Therefore, I invite you to continue participating in our events in a presencial format.
In this new Seminar we will have prominent panelists who will address the intimate relation between human rights, justice, and democracy in a techno-globalized world. This issue crosses throughout our present world, where they are questioned, a lot of times, the ethic values that have since ever been the foundation of our democracy.
And in the Council Meeting, we will continue debating and taking important decisions for the improvement of our institutional life.
This is the reason why your presence is so important. We have launched our IABA’s work again; therefore, we will need that you continue supporting this process with your valuable attendance. I look forward to seeing you.

Es especialmente grato invitarles a participar en la Reunión de Consejo y Seminario Internacional de la FIA sobre “La Declaración Universal de los Derechos Humanos, Justicia y Democracia en un Mundo Tecno-Globalizado”, a realizarse en forma virtual del 15 al 16 de febrero de 2024.
La FIA tiene por misión fortalecer el Estado de derecho, promover el acceso a la justicia, proteger y defender los derechos humanos, así como las instituciones democráticas. El 10 de diciembre se conmemoraron los 75 años de la Declaración Universal de los Derechos Humanos y es un momento propicio para reflexionar sobre su influencia en el ámbito de la justicia y la democracia, así como los retos que debemos afrontar para materializar los principios y derechos que esta consagra en un contexto de debilitamiento del Estado de derecho y en un mundo donde la tecnología ha alcanzado niveles de sofisticación tales que impacta todas las dimensiones de la vida y de las relaciones humanas a nivel global, presentando oportunidades y retos importantes en el dearrollo de un mundo con paz, justicia y democracias sólidas.
Gracias a la colaboración de nuestros miembros individuales, barras y universidades miembro y aliadas, podremos ofrecer un programa académico de calidad el viernes 16 de febrero, a cargo de distinguidos juristas, sobre diversos temas de derecho internacional y experiencias comparadasen el marco del tema central del Seminario Internacional. Asimismo, podremos avanzar en el gobierno institucional durante la seision del Consejo.
El evento también ofrecerá programas sociales y oportunidades para networking profesional.

I am delighted to invite you to the IABA Council Meeting and International Seminar on «The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Justice and Democracy in a Techno-Globalized World», to be held in a virtual format on February 15 and 16, 2024.
The IABA’s mission is to strengthen the rule of law, promote access to justice, protect and defend human rights, as well as democratic institutions. December 10th marked the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; therefore, it is a propitious moment to reflect on its influence on justice and democracy. Additionally, it is important to highlight the great challenges we must face to crystallize the principles and rights enshrined in it, in a context of weakening rule of law and in a world where technology has reached such levels of sophistication that impacts all dimensions of life and human relationships globally. This reality presents important opportunities and challenges for the development of a world with peace, justice, and solid democracies.
Thanks to the collaboration of our individual members, bar associations, and universities, we will be able to offer a great academic program on Friday, February 16, with the participation of distinguished jurists, on diverse topics of international law and comparative experiences within the framework of the central theme of the International Seminar. Additionally, on Thursday. February 15, there will be special programs and we will be able to make progress on subjects related to our institutional good governance during our Council Meeting.
The event will also offer social programs and professional networking opportunities.
